The famous whistling man

He never could get his lips to make that shape. Constantly teased and mocked, all he wanted was to issue forth a crisp, cold A-note. Perfectly held and text-bookly executed. All the other kids could do it, why not him?

Where many others would have given up, he persisted.

“It’s just clearly not your thing champ, give it up.”

But that was just the thing. These harsh words and realistic pointing-outs acted for nothing but to strengthen his resolve.

“I will.”

Alas, his life would not amount to much after he became set on this foolhardy course. Relationships, jobs, friends – all wasting away in the background of his existence.

Still no thin squeak blew.

In later life he came to the unexpected realisation; there are more ways than one to whistle. And so it came to be, that Blake Richard, an extremely ordinary man, save for the extra-ordinary fact that he could not whistle, requested to be shot out of a cannon upon his death/demise.

With all of the legal paperwork taken care of, the cannon was set up, aimed out to sea (for practicalities sake if nothing else). As B. Richard’s corpse was launched seaward, an onlooker could be heard to say;

“Wow, that human corpse is truly whistling its way through the air.”

With his ultimate goal finally having been met, B. Richard met the large body of water with all the grace you can expect from a corpse that has just been blown skyward.
