Head pounding

Larry is a sea otter. Larry needs to have his appendix out on Monday. Divorce is looked down upon in the sea otter community, and so, after asking his wife for a divorce, Larry is no longer welcome. His community has rejected him, not just in body, but in mind.

Sea otters are smart, and Larry was one of the smartest in school. Larry received 7 distinctions. Not bad. Why does Larry want to bash in the exoskeleton of a crab? Oh that’s why, Larry remembers as he sees the ripe crab meat lying beneath the broken exterior.

Larry remembers because he isn’t smart enough to reason everything out all the time. Sure, I said Larry is smart, seven distinctions smart, but that’s by otter standards. Otters are not hugely smart. So Larry is forced to follow urges most of the time, urges that he hopes will bring him joy in the end. The urge of crab bashing brings the joy of sustenance. Larry is still waiting patiently for the joy derived from the urge to get a divorce. It should be here any day now, it sure has taken its time.

Why the fuck had Larry divorced his wife? He loved her whole heartedly. Larry knew that he would face ridicule and rejection from his community, yet Larry had had an urge. His house had even been burned down by his ex-wife’s father. His ex-father-in-law, Bern. Bern was a crazy bastard.

Considering the impacts of that rotten divorce urge, Larry begins to wonder if his appendix surgery urge should be reconsidered. Larry is having an urge, an urge to have his appendix out.

Sea otters aren’t that smart.
